We are a photography studio that specializes in contemporary weddings, and fun, whimsical children and family photography.

I’m Cathie, the owner and main photographer of Docherty Portrait Designs, a wedding and family portrait studio in Fort Mill, South Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, NC.

I can be scatter-brained, creative, funny, artsy, goofy, and a thousand other adjectives depending on the time of day. I’m NOT a morning person.  I generally need a cup of coffee to get myself really moving before 10:00am.  But I can keep going long past midnight… and often DO.

I can honestly say that I love my job.  From the crazy challenges of weddings, to the fun, free-spirited enthusiasm of the kids (don’t you wish you could bottle some of that energy?!).  I cherish every opportunity I have to create unique, captivating images that reflect the personality and emotions of my brides, grooms, familes, children, and yes, the pets too.  I’ve found that although moments pass quickly, and memories can fade, the magic of a photograph will bring those moments back in an instant.

I graduated from the prestigious Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turner’s Falls, Massachusetts. Upon graduation, I was awarded with The Hallmark Award for Outstanding Achievement for the Highest GPA, and the Hallmark Award of Excellence for having a portfolio in the top 10% of the class.

I’ve been in business since 2003 and look forward to many, many more years of capturing priceless moments!
